Is there a difference in prize choice tripe v say getting it from the abattoir? I found my friends tripe (which had been frozen) really stinks but the prize choice isn't a smelly?

Is there something different that happens with the PC minced meats? Probably a stupid question but just wondered :)

Thanks

I get mine from http://www.rawtogo.co.uk/ and it's much better ie. smellier, fresher etc. than price choice which I used to use. Their tripe blocks are fantastic! It's basicly stomach cut in blocks, mine inhale them lol.
I was looking for a better quality tripe anyway, but after my friend found some plastic in Price Choice tripe I decided to make a jump.

I started my lot on prize choice a while ago and i agree with you it doesn't have the same aroma as fresh tripe, however a fair amount of water is added to it which is listed as "moisture" in the ingredients. I don't like paying over the odds for meat that has been weighed down with water so i stopped buying it. I now only use it in emergency situations when i have run out of other stuff.

I use Prize Choice for both my dogs and cats but will never use the tripe again -it gave all my Papillons terrible diarrhoea -imagine that with lots of long white coat around their bums!

This is what made me ask as I saw moisture made up around 70%
