Hi there,

In august our breed club is holding a event for both pet and show owners with breed classes, agilty courses and some novelty classes, one being fancy dress which along with some others we are thinking about entering our girl in. Have a few ideas but as she is a DDB will most probs have to make or create an outfit for her. Just a little fun but just wondering if any one has any ideas?  :)

so far though about:
fairy  (tutu etc)
bumblebee

I did red riding hood and the wolf for me and Lola - I made a kids red skirt into a cape for her and I wore grey and got a wolk fancy dress kit - ears, tail and feet for me.

A friend has a white american bulldog who she dyed green with food colouring and went as shrek and fiona.

I have lots of fancy dress outfits for my lot, everything form a pirate to a mermaid - last one was Little bo Peep, but pugs suit the cutesy sort of things, trying to think of something which would upgrade to a bigger doG.  2 or 3 years ago my nephew and his pug won a lot of Fancy Dress things going as each other -  as a boy and his dog -I made Max a pug suit, and Pipsqueak got tiny jeans, a t shirt and baseball cap, the wore matching collars and leads , that would work for any breed?  Bumble has a bumblbee outfit (obligatory with hsi name) but for the next one he goes to we are going to dress it up a bit - with some Rambo type accessories strapped to him - he is oging as a Killer Bee!

I too have lots of fancy dress outfits for my two - ranging from catterpillar, spider, pixie, christmas outfits etc but my best one yet - a little French man! I cut down my daughter's blue/white stripe t shirt, added a red neckerchief and a little black beret - Taffy has won two 1st prize rosettes with this one, lol. You could even add a string of onions or garlic or a french stick! I know some people frown on dogs being dressed up, but some quite like it! ;-)

I think with a DDB, I might try the french theme too - or something really cutesy which would make me chuckle seeing something large and powerful dressed like a fairy, ladybird, bumble bee or...how about adding a crown, lions mane and black tuft to the tail and going as Lion King...or Aslan! Oh what fun!!! :-D

I like the bumblebee idea - or with Killickchick's French theme, how about a French maid!! :-D

Mine have been gypsies, a clown, a punk cocker, a cowboy, and at our last Christmas party, poor Ellie was dressed as a Christmas tree with tinsel and decorations pinned all over one of the dog coats!

My favourite ever fancy dress, which I did many times over the years, could I suppose be recreated with one dog and a human instead of the two dogs I used. I put a Malinois in a police uniform, then put my Golden Retriever in a down stay and covered him completely with a blanket. I then explained I had two police dogs; one in uniform and one under cover. :)

Loving the french theme, keep all your ideas coming cannot wait now.

HAHA goldmali, the best idea yet but going with a VERY stubborn girl so it would be me the one under the blanket :)
