I have had the same circuit tripping for months now. Sometimes it is weeks before it happens - today it has gone twice already. It isn't as if anything seems wrong - I know the correct way to deal with it is to turn everything off then back on one at a time - this won't work because it is not tripping now. This leads me to believe that it is the fridge that trips it occasionally - I have heard of it before. However I don't know what to do about it short of turning off the fridge permanently - certainly if we are leaving the house for more than 24 hours - otherwise my freezer will defrost. Anyone had experience of this and know a solution please???
Ours used to trip in damp weather and we eventually found out that one of the outside security lights was the cause. The glass cover on the light on one was slightly cracked causing the damp to enter and the trip switch to trip. We were ages trying to find the cause. :)
OH is a refrigeration engineer, if you can elaborate a bit and say why you feel it's the fridge, he might be able to help. He did say there are a few factors to consider, is it a domestic unit ? He suggests you get an extension and plug the fridge onto another circuit in the house, that way you can see if it is the fridge or not.
Could be an over sensitive circuit breaker that needs replaced. If it was my house I would be calling in an electrician to try and establish why it is happening. Things like electricity and plumbing etc needs an expert input.
No - microwave is on the oven circuit. Yes the outside lights and outside sockets are on the circuit too - It is a RCD that is tripping - the mini breakers aren't. Because it doesn't trip when turned back on it seems an impossible job to find what is doing it. Nothing today and it is just as damp. I don't know what to do when we go on holiday because we could come back to find the freezer defrosted. Will have to get my son to check it every day and turn off everything that I can.
