It is disgraceful isn't it :-(

The firm mentioned did join CD when our infamous electrician was on (got told to change user name) They also sell on ebay :-( and had a stall at Crufts - remarkably without the offending item)

Perhaps someone could save that photo/link for the next time some wally pops up singing the praises of prong collars.
- By Pinky Date 09.05.12 19:31 UTC
And also perhaps add the comments by the poster 'Phil Williams' not quite my sort of language and certainly not for CD but my sentiments would be the same.

Sadly, just googling images under 'prong collar damage' will show other dogs with wounds from these instruments of torture  :(

WARNING links below go to images of dogs with flesh injuries on their necks (apart form the one on a human arm) .

Prong collar injury

Puncture wound from shock collar prongs

zap collar injury

Dents form prong collar on HUMAN arm after 1 light-medium pull. It's of little suprise that a dog pulling often/hard against those prongs is going to end up rather injured :(

Good god, how can anyone defend the use of them.
- By Zebedee [gb] Date 09.05.12 21:36 UTC
A moron who has no idea of training their dog properly!

I know where i'd like to place the prong collar and then pull it tight!
- By Harley Date 09.05.12 22:30 UTC
And Argos are selling e-collars :-(

Really? is there a disclaimer to people living in Wales?

It's utterly amazing how sensible people think alike.  :-)

This is the first time that I have looked at photos of dogs that have worn these things.  I could vomit.

Nope! I am wondering if we should all bombard them with e-mails? Contact the dog papers and the KC?

Can't believe Argos are selling these products :(  Alongside RSPCA collars :(

I can't find it online - can you point me in the right direction (PM me the catalogue number - we don't want to advertise it for them!) so that I can complain on their Facebook page?
- By LJS Date 10.05.12 07:10 UTC
Here is the CEO's email address I am sure if the emails go directly to him then something will be done.

I would also put the links to all the associations that are against the collars to show him the strong support to get rid of them:-)

Thanks. :-) Into battle against this idiocy.

How absolutely horrific, the listing states...

Petsafe 250M Remote Dog Trainer.

Train your dog without a lead. With a range of up to 250m, the trainer lets you manage your furry friend's unwanted behaviour even if he's not wearing a lead.
The unit has 8 levels of correction and a lightweight collar that can fit any dog comfortably. Expandable for use with up to 3 dogs.
Waterproof receiver and transmitter. 8 Levels of stimulation. Low battery indicator on receiver and transmitter.
Expands up to 3 dogs (extra collars sold separately).
Includes Instructions, collar, remote.
100 percent safe for humans, animals and the environment.

I wonder how they define 'safe'. One definition in the dictionary is free from hurt, injury, danger, or risk.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 10.05.12 07:34 UTC
If they changed "8 Levels of stimulation" to "8 levels of discomfort" they'd be nearer the truth.

Amazon also sell them (far bigger range than Argos). Their argument would be that it is not against the law  to buy one in Wales but only to use it. I could buy one, drive for 15 mins, be over the border and use it legally.
- By marisa [gb] Date 10.05.12 12:22 UTC
If you look on Fleabay, unfortunately a lot of listings under 'dog training' consist of shock collar sales
- By Harley Date 10.05.12 15:04 UTC
According to the FaceBook page about Argos and Amazon selling these dreadful products one of the people who contaced Argos has been told that Argos will withdraw them from sale and will instruct all their outlets to do the same.

For those of you on FB have a look at this page - not very good with links but hope this works

https://www.facebook.com/groups/309730805768880/

The items will also be taken off their website when it updates automatically overnight. Well done Argos to listening to those who have complained :-)
- By Celli [gb] Date 10.05.12 17:19 UTC
Blimmin' brilliant, well done Argos.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 10.05.12 21:17 UTC
Brilliant! :-)
