http://www.clubcorner.co.uk/dogs/ringcraftclubs.htmIdeally a club will have a joining fee , then a fee each week . They will be insured which our joining fee covered. They should ask for your inoculation card, name address, contact no (to get you in case club is cancelled one week )
They will have rubber mats . Tables for breeds that are table dogs .Practice is done with sometimes experienced judges , get dogs used to female judges and male judges. Sometimes they have matches every so often with a guest judge. Some clubs are quieter , gentle to help nervous dogs , or puppies . Others are a bit more noisy.
Usually you have a couple of tries with one judge , then the other .Then tea ! Then another session . You can ask questions and there should be schedules for shows so you can start off at small ones maybe and work up .You meet friends with similar interests . We also did advice on what to wear , colours and types of leads . Show presentation .Anatomy . Standards of other breeds so you learn about others not just your own . We practiced with hats on , umbrellas , sunglasses , flappy coats , Judges with walking sticks , flapping ring tapes, everything your dog may experience (dustbins at Richmond and kids opening crisp packets next to the ring !)You may hear criticism of other folks dogs . You may think something but best not to say it out loud and keep your own counsel . Good luck .
