Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Boader Colie With so many hangups!

Hi
I have a 15 month old boader collie called Jess,he's very loving, never aggressive
and full of enegy. But he has so many hangups.
He hates the microwave,he stands on his back legs whining and frets
all the time its in use.
When i hang washing out on the line he does the same ,but lunges
at the washing if i don't stop him.
I have a door leading to the garage, where i go to put the rubbish in
the dustbin. He go's loopy, running to the door, whining & freting and
once again lunges at the rubbish if i don't stop him.He will stop in his
box if i tell him to,but he always bites the corner of the Fish tank as
if in protest.
And if i have a conversation with my husband and we laugh or raise
our voices slightley he frets and whines also.Apart from this he's great
Please can someone advise me on what to do.I have tried to ignore
him,but its very hard .Barbara

Hi Barbara

It is not long that Border Collies have been pets and even now they don't always seem suitable as they are not a couch-potato type dog but need to be doing something or they get bored and a bored Border Collie means trouble.

Do you do obedience, agility or even retrieves or scent work - anything to keep his mind and body occupied. Their hearing also seems to be more sensitive than many other breeds - not necessarily acute but the become distressed more easily by sounds.
