Can anybody give me any information in how to cure my dogs problem as the vet seems to be at a loss aas he has had a course of treatment spanning over 6WKS with no luck, he has taken a sample and sent them off for tests but only half have come back clear, still waiting for the other half, if anyone has had the same problem and knows what to do i would be most grateful.

some posters swear by giving live yoghurt to help put some good bacteria back into the system. May be worth a try ?
Hope you get to the bottom of it soon
Sara

just realised what I've put and no pun intended in my last comment :)

roflol @ Sara W

What food is your dog on ? Have they had a change of diet recently?
Also when did you last worm them?

Theresa :)

The dog is on the dried food but the people who i got him from had him on Chappie dried food where i have got him on Complete Dried Food (Chicken, Tripe and veggie) i am just wondering if that would make a difference?, and as far as the worming goes not too sure when he was last done.

Thank you sara for your information, and yes i did have a laugh at what you said.
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 06.10.02 14:50 UTC
Try them on Chappie tinned food, if you only feed once a day try feeding twice a day and yes nothing like natural yoghurt to help the bowl. Ja:)kie
- By steph [gb] Date 06.10.02 15:51 UTC
hi this could just be a diet problem try switching foods try pedigree complete
just make sure your not adding anything to his food as if feeding a complete can cause problems...if you still dont have any improvements...it might be a suggestion to try a gluten free complete...wafcol..james welbeloved.
it must be distressing forbothofyou...try worming too:)
- By c2kef [gb] Date 06.10.02 17:06 UTC
Thank you everyone for your information but what is "Live" yoghurt as i have never heard of this before, and yes steph it is very distressing for both of us as i have tried a load of different things with no results, i will give him some worm tablets and try the yoghurt when i find out what it is lol.

Hi, Live yougurt still has good bacteria in it and replaces those missing from the dogs stomach. You can buy it in most supermarkets, and it is not flavoured. Please take my word for it, it is wonderful stuff.
Regarding the icons, go to Help at the top of the page, and it tells you how to do them,:D

hi there,
diarrohea in sibes is often caused by over feeding and simply cured by reducing the amount of food. my own pup suffered from this and even though i was feeding below the recommended amount on the bag i found that cutting back his food further cured the problem! sibes need a lot less food than other breeds. when my eldest sibe who weighs about 22kgs has kibble he only has about 100grms. if you need any more help feel free to e mail me,
kelly + boys

c2kef, if you type 'diarrhoea' into the search facility in the top righthand corner of the forum page, you will gain access to many threads on this subject. I hope you have more luck than I did and get to the root of the problem with your dog. Best wishes

Hi there I find diarrhoer the worst thing about owning Sibes. I have had mine for 5 years now and I've still not got to the bottom of it.
We had tests done when she was a pup and found nothing wrong. The vet advised us Chappie complete chicken and rice, we also used a bit of chicken and rice tinned added to it. She was fine untill she had pups this year and I had a real bad problem. It took weeks to get shut and she lost a lot of weight.
I've tried loads, at the mo she's on Science Plan it seems to be OK just now. It's expensive stuff but if it works it's worth it.
If theres any Sibes breeders out there reading this it would be great if this problem could get stamped out. Not that I think it ever will.
Good luck there.

Um, so you've just bred from a bitch with a problem, but you want breeders to stamp this out
- By sharon12 [gb] Date 12.10.02 09:47 UTC
No I said she had a problem as a pup. It was a case of trial and error finding the right food. She'd been ok for like 4 years.
- By Sarah Date 12.10.02 11:20 UTC
Yep, that's right you bred from a bitch that had a problem but you want breeders to stamp this out
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 12.10.02 12:18 UTC
Sarah, have to agree with your coments. The fact that you have over come a problem in your bitch does not meen that bitch should be bred from. Ja:)kie
- By sharon12 [gb] Date 12.10.02 12:21 UTC
I'm sure there are plenty of dogs that have been breed from and have diarrhoea as a pup. The fact being none of the pups had this problem.

and every other permutation of diarrhoea you can think of :)

I had a pup I could not cure this problem in= tried all sorts of things and then discovered she was eating the damp proof course from between the brick - blocked this off and problem solved!

One of my pups also had diarrhoae & it was white & we couldn`t work out what was causing it. Vet said its GOT to be something he`s eating. After constant watching, and when he was settling down before nodding off, he would lick the wall that was painted white! It was the paint so had to put puppy pen all along walls to stop him.

Hi There

I am a Siberian Owner & breeder of 20 years. Diarrhoea is a very common problem in Siberian Pups. Tests dont usually show up any problems, try feeding a meat only diet for a couple of days. This will usually sort the problem out. If you can get hold of it a food called Eagle pak imported from the states is an excellent food as it contains pro-biotic which has much the same effect as the live yoghurt. You could also try feeding a suppliment of Yakult it will have the same effect. You can mail me at mail@azgard.co.uk if you want any more help.
- By sharon12 [gb] Date 13.10.02 09:02 UTC
Hi Chris, can you buy this food in shops such as Pets At Home, I've heared of it.
- By scratchy [gb] Date 13.10.02 14:11 UTC
hi,
i have fed my sibes eaglepack and got it through mail order from a company called postal pet products http://www.postalpetsproducts.co.uk/

Hi Sharon

Scratchy is right. Postal Pets are the sole importers of Eagle Pak, but they have agents throughout the country.
