I am having trouble with my dog peg who seems to turn her nose up at everything I offer her,she gets tinned food with iams, mackerel and usually whatever we have, chicken or a little beef ect.
At the moment though im giving her pastsa with her dinner as it seems to be only thing she wants,i have recently taken her off steroids, where of course she would eat anything,so i think that has bought about a change.I have tried the eat it or starve, but peg would actually rather starve so thats not good.
It isn't that shes not hungry as say the word 'ham' and she runs to the fridge,i am running out of ideas, but is it ok to feed pasta for a while?

pasta is cereal so can be fed instead of the rice which is usual in dog food - but you'll find it in tinned food too!  pasta is a weight gaining food, so be careful not to feed much unless she's skinny.  I would suggest that you stop giving her 'whatever you have' and start giving her dog food.... I understand the 'starve' rather than eat it as one of my dogs did this, although to be fair she was allergic to rice so what I was trying to give her didn't suit her... but she was always picky and I found I had to forget the days she wouldn't eat and give her more when she felt like eating... trouble is that spoiling Peg will make her hold out for the 'good stuff' rather than eat what she should be eating.

Pasta wont hurt but not for long as a single food its all carbs and dogs being carnivores need meat and bone. have you tried raw meat ? starting with chicken wings maybe or if the bone idea is not for you yet  minced chicken would be my choice for a bit rather than pasta.
I raw feed all my dogs but if you go raw entirely you do need to vary the meats and fish given include bone and all parts of the animal including offal.
If you arnt happy with trying any raw how about a good quality manufactured dog food with some pasta to entice her.

thanks, i do mix the pasta with tinned sorry forgot to say that,i have never fed anything raw as to be honest I dont know what im doing with it,but I will try chick wings,i notice my local butcher sells bags of them, when i think back all those years ago when we first had them everything went through them,i wanted to give them james wellbeloved or burns but it was a disaster,so settled on ped chum and iams which seemed the only thing that worked well,as they were horrible thin at the time it built them up aswell.
At the moment its butchers senior, and as long as it has a bit of pasta it gets eaten.

Pasta with a tinned food will be fine as long is it to entice her to eat. Try the chicken wings (raw) as an extra but watch her weight as you dont want to give her too many calories however she gets it.
