just wondered if anyone else has this peculiarity..
my 6 year old weimy eats daisys growing in the grass over the park...   he used to do it when he was much younger but somewhere along the line he stopped...probably when i got the ball and thrower.. however just recently, within the last week or so he has started to graze daisies again.. he just walk around picking them one by one.. he will go for his ball for a while and then just graze like a cow....   unfortunately he seems to have taught my pup to do it also.... she has just started to copy him...
Just wanted to know if they will do them any harm?

Daisies are listed as toxic for tortoises (the lists for tortoises is usually based on that of rabbits and cows etc) however, I know plenty of tortoises that graze the grass etc and their toxicity has been disputed.

Based on that, I would discourage them but wouldn't worry too much if they eat a few.

Sorry no idea about dogs but found the theory of torts and rabbits and cows as similar amusing. Would also agree that torts seem to graze on grass and the odd daisy

Found this,
Daisies often have white petals with a yellow center, but they come in a variety of colors and sizes. Daisies are dangerous to cats and dogs because they contain pyrethins and sesquiterpenes, which causes diarrhea, excessive drooling and vomiting.
I would try and stop the habit.

I can think of no way of stopping this habit unless i muzzle him..   he then would not be able to freely run and get his ball with a muzzle.  He used to do it about 5 years ago but stopped somewhere along the line.. he has only just started again .. and for what reason i really couldnt say...  he literally goes around like a cow picking daisies ...   the only difference that it makes is that his poos are more fibrous  LOL
I am going to ring my vet on monday and ask their advice.
