Just wondering if anybody knows anything about courier services and putting an item on a pallet?

I am looking at buying a second hand guardsman cage but it's down in Cornwall and I'll be in Durham!
I've looked online and got rough prices but they say the item needs to be on a pallet and secured but I've no idea how to go abouts this!?
Is there a courier service that would do that part?

You need to find someone with a pallet - pity you don't live near me as we have loads :) Do you know a builder or anyone who works at a company who might have/receive goods on pallets ??? Pallets are used because the goods are usually heavy and so the pallet plus the goods can be lifted by a forklift onto/off the lorry. You would need to have the pallet ready (with cage strapped onto it) on your driveway so it could be lifted by a pallet - you would have to check that the lorry has a forklift with it as normally the sender would load the pallet onto the lorry for the driver. Also the person receiving the pallet would need to either take the pallet off the lorry with a forklift or be able to unpack the cage on the lorry and take it off manually :) :) I think a normal courier like UPS/Yodel/DHL/Citylink would be what you need really and not bother with pallets. The cage would need to be folded up, secured tightly and probably best packed in cardboard.

Sorry - just reread your post and see that you are receiving  - it won't make any difference tho', this will mostly apply to the person sending the cage rather than you :) :)
