Hi everyone just after a bit of advice on dog coats. My 5yr old flattie comes camping every year, however this is the first year he will be joining us with a hip problem ( due to a traumatic injury). I need a good warm coat that covers his hip but that would also be comfortable to sleep in a night (it gets cold in the tent a night).
Any ideas or experiences please share
Thanks

Wouldn't a deep bed be better? The kind that they can really snuggle down into. Just thinking he could always move away from that if he got too hot whereas with a coat he wouldn't be able to and you never know we may just get a decent summer!

buy a peice of memory foam. that will be comfortable. i would not use a coat as, as prev poster said, it may get too hot and he wont be able to take it off1
I thoroughly recommend the Equafleece one which goes down the back legs. They will put a velcro bit or a zip down the back if his hip makes it tricky to get it on. My Vizsla takes hers camping - it's excellent quality, thick, warm & stretchy. As she curls up - it curls up with her & keeps her cosy. But is also breathes well. Give them a call - they are very helpful.

Milly can thoroughly recommend
these fleecy pyjamas, warm and very comfy. You could contact them to see if they would make one for a flatcoat :-)

Thanks for the suggestions, he already has a raised bed with a nice deep topper. First trip is the middle of April so expecting a few cold nights :).
A coat would come in handy for the evening as well

I camp with my dogs and one needs a coat at night too. I recommend Hurtta winter coats. Very warm, very snuggly and will cover his hip nicely :-)

I second the Equafleece. Comfy and as warm as a duvet.
