My blk tri's coat has lost that shine and luster he is feed on Pro Plan Lamb and Rice and tripe any suggestions?

1st thought. Could he be about to cast his coat? They always go a bit dull before that, lots of brushing and a bath to loosen the coat up if that's the case.

2nd. How long has he been on his current food? If you only changed to it the last couple of months it may be that it just doesn't agree with him.

3rd. Cod liver oil capsules :-)

Salmon oil!

I've been using this one for a few years and love it:

Looks like they only deliver in Ireland though!  Thought I would get some, but on the registration form, the only option that comes up is for address in Ireland..

I started using Yumega in December and seen a big different in my dogs coats.
I was very unsure at first as I'd heard mixed reviews but thought what the heck and gave it a try and was very impressed and have continued to use it.

The happy hounds oil is a Scottish product so with a bit of a google hopefully you can find a UK option for buying it :)

Okay, will check it out!  One of mine is moulting, so could do with it!

Perhaps a bit obvious, but is worming up to date? ;-) Mine tend to go a bit lack lustre just prior to worming, it could be something as simple as this. :-p

Another Yumega fan, especially as my dogs are on the front of their latest pamphlet!!!
Seriously though I started to get serious with their coats a few months before Crufts by adding to their food, on alternate days, raw egg and sardines as well as the Yumega oil. I have had loads of compliments on how good their coats are looking so something, or the combination, must have worked.

Thanks for all the comments. He has been on his dried food for some while now was wormed on the 24.1.12. He was bathed or should I say he went to water treatmill and then was shampoo 3 days before Crufts. I used to use Fish 4 Dogs Salmon Oil but someone said it wasn.t got for them so I left it off now it is out of date and dosen't smell very good. People did used to comment on his lovely coat. Do males cast every year I thought only bitches did that with seasons.

I think most dogs cast once a year, at least all of mine have done - entire and neutered males and females, it's just that males and neuters tend not to cast to the same degree as entire bitches. Before casting their coats always look dry and dull, sometimes with dandruff, no supplements required the new coat always comes in soft and shiny :-)

Sometimes my boys moult twice a year, sometimes just once a year..

My JS's white coats go very grey looking just before a big moult is coming, just lots of brushing and i take them outside with the blaster to start it on its way.

Last time mine had a noticeably dull and dry coat it turned out he was harbouring a tapeworm, and the most likely source of infection had been only a month or so beforehand.
