Topic Dog Boards / Health / Extra sensitive rump?

Opi is being a bit odd.

Mostly, she's absolutely her normal self, no problems.

Three times now in the last month, she's snapped at other dogs which is totally unlike her.

A week ago, she had her funny turn - I suspect now a kind of mild mini stroke, she was staggering on her back end but totally 'with it' at the front, looking at me and wondering why I had stopped her walking and had hold of her collar and why her back legs weren't doing what she wanted them to. Not particularly upset about it, and when I turned her round to go home (we were only yards from the front door) she walked fine and has been fine since.

But just now, I was giving fuss in the back garden and I tickled her bum - now like most dogs, she loves this and will stamp her back feet but just now she was *really* getting giddy with it, as though her rump was extra-sensitive.  She was then playing with paige and kind of bucking anytime Paige touched her rump, but in a happy way.  She's never reacted that way before, and I often tickle her rump :-P

She's getting her thyroid tested in a week and a bit as the aggression - although very mmild - is totally unlike her, she has always been fantastic with other dogs and absolutely brilliant at calming dogs down, even when they had set out to do her harm. She even calmly stepp right into the middle of two dogs having a scrap last year, and moved and gestured with both dogs to stop them starting again, and very effectively. That's the normal Opi - every inch the peacemaker.

Yet this morning, she was alert-guardy barking at the builders next door, who have been there a few days (and she doesn't normally bark at anyone through the fence, even total strangers) and who I've spoken to several times. All lovely blokes and one is a total dog-lover - he was saying hello to her just now and she was fine.

Most of it I can maybe put down to the thyroid but the sensitive bum just has me a bit lost!  Anyone got any thoughts on anything not-thyroid that might tie all these things together?

Oh, she's 9 in June, always been healthy, never a day's sickness that I can recall. The only vet visits she's had have been to stitch pad wounds when she's done her Pepe le Piu impression straight onto broken glass! :-O
