I'm looking for someone to handle my Basset Hounds in the ring for me as my knees and back can no longer take the strain.

I'm NOT looking for a partner, just someone to help me produce and show the Houndies.

PM me if your intersted

Forgot to add that this will be at both Open and Championship shows, plus Crufts (if it's not been cancelled!!) should the Houndies qualify.

Car driver essential.

All entry fees paid by me, you've just got to strut your stuff.

Still searching for that extra special truly dedicated person, that my Houndies like, to help me produce, as well as handle my dogs in the ring for me.

How much would a newbie expect to be charged for someone to handle their dog in the ring - doesn't have to be a high flyer, just someone with showing experience? Sorry, to encroach on your thread.

@cavlover, you might find at shows that other handlers will show your dog for you. I often have to step in, and vice versa at shows and handle for people with multiple dogs who can't be in more than one spot at a time :)

To anyone looking for a handler I would go to your local ringcraft and ask whoever is in charge if there is a junior who would like to handle your dog, if there is you take the dog to the ringcraft class so the junior can get used to handling it. Failing that go to a few shows and see if your breed has any juniors who would like to handle.

Thank you inka, hopefully I will have a puppy in my expected litter worthy of being shown. I am lucky in that I have two exhibitors who will all being well be able to assess my litter and help me choose my pup :-)  I will certainly ask around re the handling then, thanks.

You should give it a try yourself at least once though - it's not as bad as it looks! :) :)

I know I should, I would like to, but this might be a good back up ;-)
