I'm feeling just a little chuffed with myself this evening.

Saw a picture of a young bitch for re homing in a local charity shop a couple of months ago, so sat down and phoned everyone I knew who owned or had owned one of our breed & I got lucky & today she got even luckier.

From what I can gather, she is four years old & spent most of her life living alone in a conservatory with a cat flap, as both owners left her alone & went out to work. Her paws at first were like velvet indicating that she probably hadn't even gone further than the garden. But from this morning she has gone to a lovely couple who have had our breed in the past, rescues as well but were down to one from two. She is very timid but gets along with their other hound & has a nine acre fenced garden to explore! A wonderful ending for a dog in need of TLC, I had tears in my eyes as I drove away. Hope to catch up with her in a couple of months when she has really settled in.

Don't you just love a happy ending? It brought a tear to my eye thinking of that poor dog not going for a walk ever.

Thanks for sharing Lacy.  That is so lovely.  I feel quite choked, bless her.  As her confidence grows, it will be great for you to see her open up and blossom.  :-)

Update. Went to visit Amber (formally Ruby) yesterday for the first time since I took her to her new home in March. She came running out to meet us with Elvis (their other BH), a little grumbly at first with Lucas but after a few minutes the three of them were happily chasing around.

She has gained confidence, in great condition, lost some more weight (a good thing) & obviously loved by her new family. For a dog that was SO overweight at the end of last year & either had never had enough room to run around or just couldn't due to the extra killos she now has a good turn of speed & together they manage to catch the odd rabbit. Her eyes were alight unlike the downcast dog I first met, & I came away as happy as she is.
