Hi All, can i have your thoughts on this please. Noticed last night that some of my pups had runny noses (clear fluid) and heard a cough but assumed it was because they were gulping milk down too quickly. By this morning a couple of them were coughing (like a hacking, raspy cough), so off to the vets we went and he has diagnosed upper respiratory infection and given them synulox drops for a week. They are just starting to be weaned but are still feeding from mum every few hours.
The first problem is that they are so snuffly that they are struggling to breath whilst feeding from mum and then end up coughing, what to do ??
The second thing is i am wondering whether to reduce the temp of the room a bit as wondering if the heat could be aggravating them a bit, it is not hot but nice and toasty warm, they are all spread out and panting a lot. Vet said to open the windows and let in the fresh air but i am worried this will not help their colds???
They do not have a temp and are still eating although not as enthusiastic as usual.
Thoughts please??
Have spoken to him a few times today, he has said he thinks fresh air is better than heating and that the antibiotics should kick in soon and not to worry about the snuffly noses when feeding as it will clear and that they may need to feed little and often. All have just eaten a small piece of mince each and have had their drops.
