A friend is celebrating her golden wedding this weekend. I am struggling to think of a suitable gift for the couple. Money is tight and gold expensive. I am sure the wonderful people on this forum will have some good ideas. Thanks very much

I was given a couple of glass candle sticks with gold candles and ribbon - they did not cost very much but meant a lot to us.

Some suggestions, a lovely Gold/gilt coloured photo frame with a family photo?  A plant, either for the house or garden with gold flowers and/or foliage?  A little hamper with gold in the name  or colour of the products (Gold Blend Coffee, Marmalade, Honey, Golden wrapped biscuits etc) Pair of gold coloured cushions.  Any help?

Good idea Gwen bet there is a rose with a suitable name if the couple have a garden.

I bought 2 standard rose bushes with yellow flowers and scent, for silver and ruby I use white or red flowers, avoid roses unless they are scented.

Do you know if they have any photos or slides that they have that they would like to have coverted to digital media for them to be able to enjoy looking at ? If you can get some of them getting them converted then give them a CD or get one of those photo frame things as I bet that would like that then on the Gift tag say it is 'Golden memories' :-)

Not all tea roses have thorns.

These are not thornless so the last other post I put is the best.
I have used Peter Beales and they are good :) :)

A few to look at :) :)
Lea :) :)

David Austin roses are the ones I buy, may be dearer but the quality and scent is wonderful.

The only thornless heavily scented rose I know of is deep pink Zephrin Drouhins[sp], it is a climber but I have seen it as a weeping standard, I have one climbing up my front wall for the past 25yrs and has withstood all weathers.

Both David Austin and Peter Beales  are very good :) :) :)
