Hi can anybody understand this? I had my bitch tested by idexx on Monday day 9 of her season, her results were 5.3nmol/L I was told to retest on Friday, day 13 of her season, her results were 49.9 nmol/L which I received on Saturday am, Larry told me to mate her straight away and not bother with a second mating as it would be too late, he said she had jumped unexpectantly, he thought she would be in her 20s on Friday and ovulating. We took her up to the stud dog ASAP and got a good mating with a 15 minute tie, she was very happy with the stud dog, but after reading other posts about bitches standing even when they have missed the right time I'm now wondering if we got it right or did we miss the right day and also when did she ovulate as she jumped up to 49.9 really quickly.  if anyone can shed some light I'd be grateful, thanks

Hopefully someone will come along with an answer, I find these tests bewildering, some times they work other times they don't and seems to rely alot on who is interpreting them.

Some bitches are floozies and will "stand" throughout the season, others are not keen on being mated whether thay are " ready" or not, like wise some studs will mate any time, the best will only perform at the optimum time with greater success in getting pups out of the mating.

I use saliva tests [now that I have a microscope] combined with the ovulation pads.

Hallo. According to a list with progesteronlevels and when to breed who is somewhere in this forum, breeding up to( If I remember corectlly) 60,0 nmol should be within the fertile range. So there is a chance of it if she did not go to high in prog.levels on Saturday.

For my girl it was to late even though she was in the fertile range with 52 nml and have been breed this day and the day before.

Good luck. I keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks everyone who replied I've printed off the chart so I'll have it for furture reference.
It's just wait and see now, I'll have her scanned in 4 weeks so fingers crossed.
I'm def going to write everything down, what days we did what etc for next time, I've got a serious goldfish memory!

Sometime these girls really do like to keep us on our toes. each bitch is unique and as much as you can talk about typical progression in some bitches when the progesterones start to rise they come up quickly, others bob along at just under ovulation level for ages. Its expensive but the beauty of sequential testing is that you see a pattern, As you have had a mating in prime fertility period you have maximised the potential for a litter and if you breed again you may be better testing at closer intervals with this particular bitch.

This happened with one of my girls.  My girl was on 3.1 nmol on the Thursday (results received Friday) but, blood taken on the Tuesday morning was 48 nmol, we couldn't get results until the following afternoon, shot straight off to stud dog and had a mating that evening.  The bitch missed, not suprisingly.  You may be lucky but as your girl had risen so quickly I would imagine being mated 24 hours after the 48 nmol level (if I have that right) is probably too late.  If she has risen at an unusually fast rate (like my girl) then she was probably way past 65 nmol by the time she was mated.  This is the thing I find most frustrating about the bloods, I'm unable to get the results same day. Ok if your bitch follows the "average" but not if they are different.  I hope you were in time.
