With the new rules set by the KC recently in that we have to have our exhibitor number shown on the crates/cages this maybe of some use to you

I wondered how long it would take for someone to offer products for this use.

I was thinking of getting something similar to white board and putting my contact details in permanent marker and the show number in white board marker which can be wiped off after each show.

Have been getting facebook messages all week from people making them!  I did my own yesterday, will get it laminated, and attach a non permanent marker.  Then fingers crossed I can find somewhere to attache out of reach of dogs!

My hubbies immediate reaction was that enterprising doglets would pull them into the wire crates and shred/chew them.

I have thought I could attach luggage labels to the zippers on the light crates pretty easily.

I only use crates at unbenched/Open shows, so really could permanently write my kennel name on them.

Other thing you can do is just get a ID tag like the metal ones that you pop on your dog collars...
Have your name/affix and mobile number on them and voila problem sorted and dogs wont chew on metal ID tags :)
Just attach to cage with ring supplied to front of your cage

Funnily enough I did this, with an old tag(wrong number on) about 4ish years ago, to distinguish at a glance betweeen mine & my sisters cage....shame all my tags have wrong number on but I am using them as key rings for all the many keys we have at the moment!!!

Brilliant idea!!!  I think I will use Kizi's (who I lost in August) tag.

I was at an Open show yesterday and did'nt see a single labelled crate - and no-one appeared to be checking either, I think this new directive will be totally ignored by the majority of exhibitors  and quietly forgotten about within a years time !!

I was at a show last Sunday and most, if not all, of the crates I saw had labels on them. I can see there being a problem with metal crates if you have a 'chewer', the minute your back's turned the label will be fair game.

what do you put on the tag if you do not have a mobile number ?

I got an A5 bit of PVC card off Ebay with a free pen and just scribbled my ring number on and tied it to the cage yesterday. Number will wipe off for use next time. It's a bit big though, I'm toying with the idea of trying to cut it in half, but it might break it and it doesn't really matter if it's a bit big. :-)

a large Metal ID tag will stop most chewers...

You dont need any tel numbers, as anyone & everyone could contact you!!
All you need is an affix(if you have one & your name. This is so if there is a problem you can be contacted over the tannoy to return to your cage. Some are putting there ring number on aswell....

I used a post card which I then laminated put a hole in the top & secured to my cage with a saftey pin.   At a later stage I will get a more permanant one like these http://www.personalyprinted.co.uk/id30.html    scroll down to luggage tags

yesterday at our club show I bought a card which the breed stand was selling especially for this purpose.

basically it is a laminated postcard size card with the breed logo on it and it has two holes punched in it at the top with key ring fobs attached so that it can be secured to any crate. Also it came with a marker pen and cost £2.50

The stand sold out of them in about 10 mins and will be taking more to crufts but I reckon you could make something similar at home in a few minutes.

You don't have to put your phone number or bench number onto the card as a contact name will suffice. Some exhibitors had made their own and personalised them with their affix or photos of their dogs.
