Hi I have a 14 week old basset and he is a lively little man but last 2 days he has been very quiet sleeping almost all the time took him to the vets last night and he thinks it's kc but hopefully caught it early, he has put him on antibiotics which I gave last night and this morning, does anyone now how long it takes for them to kick in!

If the infection will respond to the ABs usually within 24 hours - in this case I would think the vet has given them to deal with any secondary infection as KC is caused by a virus and has to wait for the bodies defences to deal with it.

How long have you had him and how long has it been since his last lot of injections. Did you hold him on your lap when you were in the vets.

We have had him from 8 weeks and he had his second injection middle of jan but he has been going to puppy classes so think he might have picked it up from there, and it was last appointment at vets

Yes, puppy classes may be where he picked it up, shame but given time he will be back to his old self.

Been back to vets tonight and saw the main man, he thinks he may of hurt his throat so has put him on loxicon a anti inflammatory and have to call him in the morning to see if Alfie is any better, I'm hoping so ! So looks like its not kennel cough!!
