  i just wanted your opinions on this, a so called friend has a mongrel bitch of 4yrs and a staff cross who is bout 11mths, i had advised them to keep separated when not in the house as he gets older if they didn't want puppies ( which they didn't ).

Any how i got a call saying that he had got her, informed them of the injection and they said thank you, this was just after xmas.

Well i got a call saying that she had gone in for to be spayed, i said she wasn't pregnant then, and the reply was oh she was pregnant with 8 puppies, now ive worked out the dates and when she had the op the puppies would of been due in 2-3wks, so her due date is next week.

I think this is appalling what do you think

It's not ideal, but better than a litter of unwanted puppies.

I agree with JG.  Thousands and thousands of unwanted dogs are PTS every year.  This is no different.  There is no suffering involved, whereas, there can be when unwanted animals are passed from pillar to post or holed up in kennels for months or years.
It cannot have been an easy decision for your friends and I think they have been very brave taking this responsible decision although, of course, it would have been so very much better if the could have been more responsible in preventing it happen in the begining.
From the bitches point of view she will not know she has been through anything more than a spay which the majority of bitches will experience.

Should have been done sooner though.

She could have had the Alizin injection, been scanned to be sure it had worked,  and then been spayed three months after the season started.

It could be that the injection didn't work and that is why she was spayed 2/3rds the way through pregnancy.

thanks guys for replies,don't get me wrong i agree with everything you have mentioned.

But they should of kept them apart in the first place as they didn't want pups.

Brainless the injection was not given they just opted for the spaying.
