9 month puppy i am taking to show training classes but she,sa a terror at jumping up and she can jump quite high , even at home she does it when she greets anyone(human or canine) and she is very rough in her play but not agressive
has anyone any tips to make her keep 4 feet on the floor when its needed i dont expect her to be a goody goody but need her to respect what she is told and Not turn a deaf ear when she feels like

Sounds like my almost 12 month old, she can barely contain herself.

I have found that on her own without too much excitement (like in the ring ) speaking very calmly and repeating the stand command works.

For walks I have always kept my hand on the withers when allowing them to greet people repeating the off command quietly, and ensuring compliance with the hand on the wither.

As they get a lot of lead walking with a lot of  people greeting them, it then can be transferred to off lead situations, though I do call back the ones likely to jump, until they finally stop doing it.

You don't say what breed or how hefty  the dog is /going to be  but I teach Sit / WAIT with a five bar gate signal  (hand held up with fingers open)
At training the owner does sit/wait side step , repeating command as needed and other folk go round to say Hi to the dog , if they move they are repositioned and resat  calmly and quietly. If they greet whilst still sat they get a treat (not a have a party/play reward as we are trying to keep the dog from breaking and jumping up )
I use wait for going through doors, when we open back of the car ,etc. it is such a useful command.
You can get stooges to visit your house at planned times and put the dog on a lead and do a controlled greeting in the hallway . The correct word is OFF, not down(as down means lay down ) Hand over withers as an aid  at the beginning is fine (not if it means bending down to a tiny dog all the time though )That's easier if the dog is knee height.

I clicker trained my bouncy Spanish to stand.  Took literally minutes and from that day on she's always stood and allowed people to go over her standing beautifully.  Sadly she is still rather bouncy on the move at nearly 4 years of age..........
