Hello, I have been reading about the Italian Spinone. But would like to meet "one in person" and see if it would be a dog that would like it here in our family, and also speak to a breeder (hopefully someone who can give me real and honest information abt the Spinone).
Could you kindly tell me if there is a breeder west of Lodon. We live in a small village 7 miles west of Reading, Berkshire.
I guess my biggest question would be if they are good dogs with children? I have had dogs all my life...English setter, Tibetan terrier and recently my German Shephard/Husky mix. I need a dog that can go with me/us everywhere (incl. holidays), be my "safety net" when my husband are traveling (not a watch dog, just someone who can let me know if there are someone in the garden who are not 'invited') and be loving to my daughter too (and accept her as part of the family, even though she is only 22 mos.).
This time around I need a dog with a calm temperment, who will be one in our family.
Thank you and kind regards
Dominique Simon

Have you thought about attending "Discover Dogs" at Earls Court on November 16/17? Here you will be able to meet all different breeds of dog, including the Italian Spinone, & talk to their owners about what it's like to live with them. Full details of Discover Dogs can be found on the Kennel Club's website at

Welcome to the forum Dominique :-)
I think the spinone would be ideal, but are you prepared for the slobber :D
May I suggest that you contact
The Italian Spinone Club of GB who will be able to provide you with more information and a list of events, where you will be able to go and see spinone in action :-)
They are a great breed

Hi Leigh,
Thank you for the information. I grew up with Boxers (my parents had two), is it more slobber than that...??? I can't wait to see them, especially the "old dogs", because as you know - they grow up very fast, and it is the adult dog who you will be seeing most of. Any pub is a charming one, who can steal your heart.
Take care

They're fine as long as you get out of the way when they shake their heads :D
If you would like to go and meet a breeder with several generations of spin under one roof and fancy a trip to Dover, let me know and I will give you my friends details.

Hi again,
I would like your friend's contact info. Though, I need to check with my husband, if he is okay abt going to Dover (honestly, I need to look at a map...first time in England, ha).
My direct email is: chokolade@ntlworld.com
Thanks very much

Hi Helen,
Thank you so much. I will for sure contact her. I find that you always get the most info directly, rather than reading the books.
Thank you very much.
Dominique
