We are having a big problem in our house and one we are rather stumped by.

One of out bitches has become absolutely obsessed by chewing headphones, probably for the ear wax *gross* but she is addicted.
She will seek them out from anywhere they are hidden and have gone through 5 pairs in the six weeks.
Since we both listen to books on iPhone/pad every day, they are always around the bedroom/living room etc.
After one very expensive pair we switched to cheapos and try everything to remember to put them in a bag or drawer.
It all came to a head tonight when ...while we were watching tv...and right under our noses she quietly chewed the buds from the latest pair..a fairly good noise reduction ones.
My husband went balistic and said.."YOU will have to do something!!"

HELP!!

You just have to make sure that they are put somewhere out of her reach every time :) Or stop using them :) You have to break the cycle :)

Yes agree one of my girls was obsessed with ear wax so think it is avoidance rather than cure in this problem :-)

I think I'd have been inclined to tell hubby " you should have put them away !" lol.

You could try booby trapping a pair with something foul tasting, might work, might not.

In your instance I might change to 'over the ear' ones!!

Funny, one of my dogs, a male, is very keen on children's ears and tries ever so gently to give them a good licking. When we have visiting children you can see him eyeing up their ears and choosing his moment to check out the contents! I wonder why wax is so attractive!?

Dog heroin I reckon :-)

Shes my official 'cleaner of the eyes' and takes her job very seriously.
How can something so pretty be so gross?

Can't think of anything except keep them out of her reach, unless there is something she doesn't like the smell of - Vicks maybe? You might have to wear headphones smelling of Vicks for a while though.

Some people might not get this, but is she doing the canine equivalent of Fat Freddy's Cat - "Wait til he puts on his stereo headphones...." LOL

Was going to suggest the same- lightly rub with bitter apple spray, citronella. Dogs like to lick and groom each other's ears and I know mine have all liked to nip and lick mine given the opportunity, so I suppose the ear smell is generally desirable. Euwww!

Another vote for rubbing or spraying with bitter apple or some such, assuming that's ok to then put in your ears. Mind you, that stuff never put Ellie off snatching tufts of Henry's ears. I need to go buy some in the hope that it will stop Lottie chewing the corner of our kitchen wall!
