as you know we got our new pup 10 days ago. we took her for her 2nd jab and microchip yesterday. she was fine last nght when we got home she ate her tea but only half of her supper and was a little sleepy. her poo was a little runny last night and she pood again at 4.30am and 7.30 this morning still quite soft. She wouldnt eat breakfast so i offered some boiled chicken which she ate and then threw up but ate it again! she is drinking fine and playing but in shorter bursts she seems knackered now. is this normal as vet said about bieng sleepy for 24 hours. also she had some treats yesterday and im wondering if it was all too much?

That seems not unusual following a vaccination (children are often the same, with a slight fever) and stress of a microchip as well. Keep an eye on her, and if she's not better, or goes downhill, ring your vet for a chat.

shes just woken played for about 40 minutes and is napping again.will try her on a lttle rice and boiled chicken later. i will keep an eye on her for today and hopefully she will perk back up, if not its off to the vets. she got a clean bill of health yesterday and the vet even commented on what a healthy little puppy she was, so this has really worried me. Thanks for your advice jeangenie.

No problem.:-) We always tell new owners that their pup is likely to be a bit sleepy/quiet for a day or two following vaccination, because their little bodies are working hard developing immunity. From what you say it sounds asthough her reaction is within the normal range. Make sure she has plenty of fluid, and small bland meals are in order for a day or two till her tummy settles. If she has the runs for more than 24 hours have a word with your vet.

Hoping to hear that she's back to normal tomorrow!

My inlaws pup was the same, she had shaking also.  vet thought it might have been shock from the needle.  Apparrently used an insulin next time and held off doing the microchip.  She JRT if that helps for size wise.

thanks all, she had a plate of rice and boiled chicken and kept most of it down a little play chased the broom and now back to snoozing, shes had a bit of water. Do i just leave her to sleep it off making sure she has what she needs when she needs it. Still a bit worried

Yes, let her rest; it's what her body's telling her to do. :-)

thanks all, yes it was a worry as she is still young, also my sister lost a pup a 9 weeks last year a day before collecting him so i guess i was over cautious. shes a ravenous little piggy today and enjoying her chicken!
