Topic Dog Boards / Health / hip/elbow xrays - where to go

Under sedation...

Would anybody have any recommendations on where to go?
I have asked around and got some recommendations but closest place is still over 2 h away from us (live in Cambs).

I don't mind the travel but for a dog that has been sedated it can't be too comfy to be sitting in a moving car for hours afterwards but of course if that has to be done it has to be done.

I would like to see somebody who can give me an idea of what to expect as I'm hoping to mate the bitch who is being scored in the spring and as I'm going abroad would be useful to have an idea if we will be going or not as soon as so I start planning&saving :)...
Of course we will get BVA results in before her season but if the scores are not looking good, I don't have to spend time planning the trip that is never to happen.

When I last had one score under sedation we left him at the vet's for a couple of hours and when we came back for him he was 100 % back to normal -almost pulling the nurse over in his excitement.

BVA/KC/ISDS Canine Health Testing Dates. There is a load of info on this FB site.My flatcoat bitch ( X rayed in southhampton) walked away  to the car after her sedation , for the trip back.

Thanks everybody.
Reading back my post, I don't think I worded myself very well.

I'm not talking about what to expect regarding the sedation :) but getting a vet who can give good estimate of the expected scores so I can start planning our trip if we are expecting good results :)... Or if the scores are likely to be not so great, I can just forget about it all.

All the vets listed in that facebook page are minimum 2.5 hours away.
I just can't quite believe there isn't anybody in this part of UK who uses sedation and is known to be able to give a good estimate of the scores...
Everybody I have spoken to travels to other parts of UK if they wish for that kind of service.

I know it's a pain to travel so far.  But if it's any help my bitch slept extremely well all the way home after being sedated.  I do regularly take her on fairly long car journeys - but if anything, she was more relaxed in the car after the sedation.  So by the time we got home she was pretty much back to normal.  So I wouldn't worry too much about a dog having to have a long car journey after sedation.
