Topic Other Boards / Foo / Problems with Orange emails(freeserve)
- By Star [gb] Date 31.12.11 16:49 UTC
For almost a week now I cannot receive emails from my freeserve address. I acnnot log into the account via Orange or an outside site like web2mail.com. I keep getting a message saying incorrect username and password which it definitley isnt. I have called Orange daily to  kep being told another  24/48 hours etc. vartious excuses as to why, problem has been escalated, engineer will ring back but still no progress. Must be a problem with tehir end as the mail is not going to Blackberry either. they have checked my settings by remote assistance but still no joy. Just wondered if anyone else who is using a freeserve email address has had any similar probs.

I have had a freeserve email address for donkeys years.  Started with freeserve, which became wanadoo, which became orange.  If orange is your ISP I can guarantee all is working as it should be for me.

But I do have my emails delivered direct to my own email box (Microsoft), I have far greater problems if I log in at work and try to check my home emails by going through orange direct.  Far more spam, far more problems.

And if I try using a dongle from another provider - forget it!!!!

Thanks Jean
I too have had them for years and apart from odd problems never had an issue drag on this long. I definitely havent changed any settings and my easily email address is working properly. It is just receiveing from the freeserve one. I am just getting so frustrated every time I call them :-(
Usually I  get them through Outlook without problem but every so often I log on through the orange website just to make sure nothing has gone into junk folder. I cannot even do this now though

I had exactly the same problem two or three years ago. Sorry I can't remember the exact cure but I found it in the Orange problems website and I was not the only one suffering the problem. Unfortunately that website is down at the moment. I know before I finally fixed the problem my user name and password would be recognised and email would come in immediately after I deleted my temporary internet files and history.

They did try deleting the history and temp files to no avail :-(

Just remembered I had to change the number in my Incoming Mail (POP3) server.

If you havnt used your orange acc. for 219 days they suspend it
To retrieve your account Go into Orange
Then help & support
then Broadband & home phone
you will see on the right Retrieving a suspended dial up acc.
Follow the ins.

Its happened to me, now I just go to orange and read my mail once a month that way I get to keep my email address
Hope this helps you.

Thanks Rumble but I do use it most days. Still not working. This is their latest reply. Its been 8 days now. Because I have complained they have offered to credit me with one months fee but ist still annoying they have no idea when it will be repaired!

We've recently upgraded our webmail system and are currently aware of an issue some of our customers are experiencing accessing their accounts.
This matter has already been escalated to the highest department and we do not currently have a timescale for resolution.

Hi I too  started with freeserve, wanadoo, orange ect. Started getting problems when I changed to windows 7.
cannot remember how I did it . but now all my emails come in on windows live.mail still use the original email addresses.
only problem is they are a little slow to load but get a lot less spam. I was given the same reply as you and this was a while  ago
