Does anyone know if I can get these by mail order, the butchers that used to do them for me has retired.
Cheers
Jill

Try "Landywoods" they do a nice minced chicken with the bone included. Monthly frozen deliveries, I find their products are excellent and service too.

You can get chicken mince including bone from Albion though they do have a minimum order. They come fortnightly and seem to deliver in most areas. I've found them reliable.
Also Forthglade and Prize Choice do chicken minces which you can buy in pet shops that have a freezer. It all depends on how much you want really.

I believe that most of the minced chicken, supplied by TPMS and the like, is comprised wholly of chicken carcasses.  It's quite high in bone but no more so than than minced wings though so a good alternative.  You can always add extra meat for balance, I do.

When feeding mince I feed: 1 chicken, 1 tripe, 1 economy mince (includes lungs/lights), and 2 meat - all 450g packs, with some minced liver too.  This feeds my 3 for one day :)

Thanks Esme

I use TPMS for raw meats and bones etc and highly recommend them for price and service

That's OK. Am having a lazy day today, lots of sitting around and vegging!

OK it's a website!! Never heard of them before I will have a look at their products and prices myself

i buy a box of human grade chicken wings for £11.50 its 15kg in weight and mince them frozen myself, was GIVEN a heavy duty Hobart butchers mincer, weighs a tonne, takes me and my husband alot of effort to move it, its great though i much prefer minced wings to carcas as there isnt much meat or any skin on the carcass's, landywoods mince chicken is a sloppy mushy mess...

>  landywoods mince chicken is a sloppy mushy mess...

And my dogs flatly refuse to eat it (same with Albion's chicken)!
- By colliepam Date 28.12.11 15:20 UTC
i dont like the way those 2kg bags of frozen mince, tripe, chicken, etc you get from pets at home etc, turn to mush when thawed-do they add water? If you buy mince from a butcher its not slop!
- By dogs a babe Date 28.12.11 17:29 UTC
I find the Prize Choice frozen mince is too finely minced and goes mushy - except for the Tripe as that's quite firm already and fine mincing is a help rather than an annoyance!

I highly rate the mince from TPMS - their chicken mince is firm and their meat minces are really 'meaty' looking, more like minced steak than minced leftovers!!

...i don;t think I've ever used the word mince as much in one post :)

i might try them, next time-have you ever ordered bones from them, dogs a babe?just wondered what theyre like,as it just says small, medium and large.
- By marisa [gb] Date 29.12.11 17:20 UTC
The minced chicken from DAF is not purely chicken wings, it is all parts of the chicken (rang them to check yesterday). Bought 2 boxes of the minced chicken, one box of the best beef tripe and a box of bones from them today so will be interesting to see the quality. The smell is something else there though!

Hi colliepam - yes I have ordered bones but not often as they take up so much room in my 'a bit cramped' freezer.  The few times I did order from TPMS I must have ordered large and got dinosaur bones!!  Good quality though with lots of marrow

Nowadays I just get bones when I see them in a butcher and know I can feed them immediately - my dogs aren't that bothered by recreational bones though and seem happy enough with turkey neck and legs for a good chew :)
- By cooper [gb] Date 30.12.11 18:16 UTC
i have only had the raw beef knuckles, they were quite large.
- By cooper [gb] Date 30.12.11 18:18 UTC
marisa , it does smell round their site, thats tripes for you lol
the chicken is minced carcasses, wings & legs, i know this as they use the same supplier i used to use
- By marisa [gb] Date 31.12.11 16:40 UTC
Yes, the minced chicken/tripe blocks are very good value (less than 50p each per 1lb block). Thought the bones were a bit dear (£6 for a small box) but went on their website again when I got home and will ask for the 15kg bag next time as that looks like good value.
