hi, can scan dates be wrong? got my girl scanned on day 27/28 and scanner saw 6 live pups and said she was about 32/33 days, she was mated on the 2nd/3rd/4th nov but only got a slip mating on the 2nd nov hence going back a further 2 times, making her due around the 5th jan, shes started showing signs of been due, staying in her whelping box, not eating much etc but she still has 9 days to go, is there any reason the scanner guy would think pups were older than they should be? is this a sign of larger than normal pups?

My understanding is that it is normally 63 days from day of ovulation, she may have ovulated up to a week before actual mating>

They can prepare up to a week earlier, many posts have shown their dog appearing to be in stage one labour.  My girls had signs of this two days before she went into it fully, she had her on day 59 from mating.  Always be on standby a week before.  I watched like a hawk and caught all her signs.

Fingers crossed that she waits another 2 days at least before giving birth.
