Hi,I am planning on mating my bitch this season, after not being during her successful last season.I think she must know whats instore for her,as she's about 2 weeks late coming in this time around. She is my 2nd bitch ever, and in the past not took her dates as seriously, but as I plan to mate her successfully this time around,I want to be assured it's normal in some bitches for late seasons, the waiting is driving me mad.

2 weeks is nothing I have had them go two months late when planning on a mating, also a month early.

Thank you,it would be my luck that the bitch would be ready to mate Christmas Day or Boxing Day,or even over New Year!!lol

My girl was due in season at the end of may this year...she eventually came in at the end of august...I wish it had only been 2 weeks! lol.

Same as Barbara, I have had a bitch go a couple of months over what I had thought normal for that particular bitch.

They have to keep us on our toes you know.  :-)

It is likely that the smallest thing can upset or halt the hormonal cycle, slight fever, fright, over heating, stress and so on and so forth, as the 'season' is only the outward sign of the inner working of the bitch anything that upsets the the bitches health, emotion or metabolism will effect the 'season', it is natures way of insuring that the bitch is in the best possible condition for a possible mating.

Find a show you particularly want to go to and enter her, that should ensure she comes in! :-D

They do it to drive you crazy.  Mine was 5 weeks late and we were trying to orchestrate a trip to Sweden for the mating so she was (of course) as awkward about the timing as possible.

The best way to ensure that your bitch comes in is to book something REALLY expensive like a £2k holiday or have a show that you really HAVE to attend.  Once you've shelled out the money and can't get it back she's guaranteed to be ready on that date!

Seriously though - 2 weeks is normal.  Mine are like clockwork to the day, but have each had one season where they were really late.

Best of luck with the mating when it happens.

My girl's seasons have always run like clockwork, to the day! However this time, the season Iplan to mate her on, shes two weeks late!
Typical.
She know's I am waiting, I think I am going to have to fake to not care then she will come in.

I'm waiting for one who isn't particularly 'regular' but has been more regular due to joining with her daughter, this time they were due from July and daughter has been in and out of season but Mum is showing no signs... I'd like her to have pups, so perhaps that's why she's keeping me waiting.  Another bitch kept me waiting a year from when I expected her, but like clockwork came in 4 months after her pups were born... whether she'll come in next month or not will be another matter... they like to keep us on our toes!

Haha, thanks for the replies,I needn't worry then,I'm in the same boat as most peple then, lol, also, what do people think of ovulation pads?are they reliable?

You will get mixed responses on this one.

I hate them, and feel that it was a total waste of money.
