I'm not too sure what to do, if the whelp is a singleton would you still increase the food, she coming up for 7 weeks now.  I'm a little worried that too much will make the pup bigger than needs to be.  My other girl carried two and her appitite was okish (as long as it was liver).  Her two were good weights.  My other girl is built a little smaller than her so I don't want to cause complications.

She's on Arden grange prestige at the minute and i have Arden grange puppy in.  Would you swap her over.  She doesn't eat much of the AG now but will grave on other things.

I do have a feeling that she has more than one but you never know, we scanned at 6wks so could only see taht one at the bottom.

When my large breed carried just a singlton I did not increase her food to a huge degree but made sure she had plenty of good fresh highly nutritious food. Lots of  meaty bones and added some extra meat such as chicken breast, plenty of oily fish/eggs/cottage cheese/yoghurt not so much quantity more quality.

We had a singleton a few years ago, we knew there was only one so didn't increase Mum's food massively, gave her extra chicken and best steak mince from the butcher along with her kibble, puppy was a good weight at birth.

4 years ago we had a singleton, my vet scanned my bitch 3 times each time telling me she had missed so we didn't change her food at all, it wasn't until the Friday I felt a slight movement, rushed to the vet and he saw a singleton very high up,  she had a c-section on the following Monday and had a chunky 1lb orange roan little girl.

Hi thanks for the replies,

I'll let her keep eating the extra she's having now.  The pup is very low down so i don't know if any are up in the ribs, she does feel wider there.   i can get plenty of chicken breast into her, dried and she loves her fruit and veg.  I've just tried them all with Nautures own nuggets and she eating.  never sure about the quality of those but the priorety is for them to eat.  And its working.

For some reason she likes french fries, never has before :)
