We have just added a new health test to Champdogs :

French Bulldog Health Scheme

The requirement that in order achieve the Elite level your progeny must also have to achieve certain levels within the scheme is an interesting idea.

The French Bulldog Club of England health scheme has been running for a while now, our girls have passed Bronze and just have heart testing to do to get silver.  Also DNA tested clear for HC and patella scored normal (both requirements for the silver).  We have to somehow get the message across to the public to only buy a puppy from Health Tested clear parents. If the breeders can't or won't show puppy buyers the health certificates then please walk away.

Think this is a excellent system the only problem I have with it is it does not include a natural birth requirement.

Is this because there are not enough in the breed giving birth naturally or because it is difficult to assess the reason for a section? There are in all breeds and humans times when a section is required because of reasons other than head size or pelvic size or a combination of both so perhaps it is difficult to improve the situation and it has to remain in the hands of the breeders selecting for natural birth and hoping in time it creeps through the breed as a whole.
