Just come across a thread which said that Buffalo horn is similar to the Stagbar antlers and recommended this place http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Rerrick-Stick-Making-Supplies

Just wanted to check whether people have tried this, whether they just buy one of these and put them straight down for the dogs or if anything need to be done with the horn.  Is there any wear on the dogs teeth?

Mine love the Stagbars so I thought this might be another good one to try.

We have 3 of them floating around and all 3 girlies like a chew now and again. They are fine just as they are but if there is a particularly pointy end OH has just sawed it off, on the whole the ends are rounded anyway. Sure it would not be a problem but we are over cautious. They love them and my youngster  will spend hours chewing one. Had them over a year and they are still good. I have a pic somewhere I will try to get on. Not good with pics on CD though so will do my best. And clues how to do it ??? They are not cheap but last for ages so worth the pennies.

Brilliant, thanks so much for getting back to me.  Think I will take the plunge and get one.

Have you noticed any wear on the dog's teeth at all?

I have them for my dogs and find them to be better than the antler, they don't break off like antler does, it frays at the ends rather than snaps, it does smell a bit of you get up close but nothing to revolting.
