Topic Other Boards / Foo / iPod Touch?

I already have a Sony Walkman mp3 which I hate because it never powers on at the same place I powered off so I have to try and remember which disc and track I was listening to (I listen to audio cd's when I cant sleep so quite irritating to lose my place and I never remember where I am)

So...... shall I purchase an iPod touch because I fancy one? Or would it just be reckless to spend so much just because my other mp3 irritates me?

If it's all about the music - check how much space you need and consider an iPod classic.

If you like the idea of the apps - which you can get on the iPod Touch - then look at a smart phone...

I love Apple - I have a iMac, an iPhone4s and an iPod - but 'm not a fan of the Touch.  It's something of nothing and doesn't really fulfil each function as well as it's specialist mates!  I looked, briefly, at a Touch but my music wouldn't fit on anything smaller than a classic and I decide to change to the iPhone (from a very old plonky phone) in order to get the 'smart phone' functionality.

My OH had a Touch and found it a bit pointless too, so we've just sold it on eBay!  He's doesn't want as much music as me so he's sold his iPod Classic too and gone for an iPhone 3 which loads of companies are offering at really great prices at the moment.  Worth a look

I have one of these - an ipod shuffle. as i am a bit of a techno phobe i only wanted something basic and this more than meets my needs and sounds as though it would meet yours too as it starts playing where you last switched it off :-)

Shop around as there is a huge variety in price.

Yes, of course you should!

In my house the iPod touch is popular with all.  My little one has been able to use it since she's been 2 and it's so much more than just a music device.

Go on, treat yourself and enjoy!  :)

Can she come & teach me Earl as I've never got to grips with mine!

I'm thinking maybe a smart phone would be suitable for what I need. It's not like I'm going to be wandering around listening to it like the younger generation do. It's only for bed time and summer walks with the dogs.

Perhaps I'll start a new thread re the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Course she can Wolfie.  I was amazed when she was able to get from apps to photos to TV shows and she wasn't even 3.

Why not? If you have the money then it's up to you what you spend it on :)

I would not be without my ipod touch, initially bought only for music as an upgrade to the ipod nano I had, but I'm now also an app adict. Sooooo much mose than just an MP3 player.
My ipod touch just has 32gb of storage, I have 17.8 gb still available with 1711 songs, 5 vids, 472 photos and 159 apps crammed on it. :)
My boys both have 8gb versions, they do tend to find they will have to delete old apps to fit new ones on - it's the apps that take up a lot of space.

The 8gb touch will hold up to 1750 songs, 32gb touch up to 7,000 songs, 64gb up to 14000 songs.

I love my iphone for spoken books - a Touch would work just as well.  At night I set it to turn itself off after 20 mins - then pop it under my pillow.  At a pretty low volume I can hear it through my pillow & it sends me to sleep.  Also the audio books last for ages because I rarely get much further than 5 mins before I fall asleep so spend much of my time rewinding to listen to the same 20 minutes over & over again.
