Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Lamb rib cage

Sorry if this appears to be a daft question to some of you but how much of a lamb rib cage can dogs eat? They are usually given chicken wings which they devour in seconds and never any problems but lamb bone is obviously much more dense. Is a lamb rib cage easily digestible by dogs!
Thank you.

One of mine polished off a whole one including spine, in about 20 mins flat! Mind you, he was a wee bit uncomfortable in the poo department the next day. He's a medium-largish dog, 26kg.

It depends on how big the dog is (both in terms of jaw size and how much food it needs).   My medium sized dog (Vizsla - 23kg) has big enough/powerful enough jaws to eat a whole ribcage and probably most of the spine if it's chopped up.  At a sitting I would feed no more than a 1/4 or a bit less.  Otherwise you will have a rather constipated dog!!!  I would chop it up and feed a piece every other day - and combine it with some meat without bones in.

My 5 month old Giant Schnauzer puppy has a whole rib cage [cut in half] as a meal as do the older ones.
