had a mentor to show me the ropes as i haven't bred a pug before  but they've let me down saying it's too far to come as she's working now. i've been reading lots of things on various web sites all say they are difficult to whelp i'm worried sick as lots of them seem to be born breach i've had her scanned and she's got 3 pups on one side but only 1 or 2 on the other. as i haven't bred any of my dogs for the last 12 years they've just been pets i just thought i would try and have a litter so i could start doing a bit of showing again now that my family has grown up and i have time to enjoy it.

Hi, you could send a private message to Gwen, she's very experienced with Pug whelping.

There are some experts on here who will know better, but I'd say if you've whelped at all, you will know some of the warning signs that things aren't going right, and just be aware that your breed can be harder to self-whelp than others, so if in doubt get her to a vet sooner rather than later.

With it being such a difficult to whelp breed, have you considered buying in a pup to show?  From a reputable breeder naturally.  It is a breed notorious for problems, and it always seems to be the early hours of the morning that an emergency C-section is needed.  I have paid over £1,000 for a section personally, so it is worth considering that buying a pup may cost you less!

Worth thinking about I think.

Just click on JeanSW's name and one of the things that will come on up is "Send Message", click on that and it should be obvious from there

Hi Puggeld, at the top of any page there are a line of titles. Click on messages, then click send message, and then put Gwen into the recipient box, then write your message and click send.
