We are new to caravanning and have decided to buy a generator as hook up is not always available. What do you use? would appreciate some suggestions and can you use a dog drier with a generator.

Honda are considered the best, but we bought two Clarke ones for less than the equivalent Honda one, and have been very happy with it.  We bought ours through Machine Mart in 2009.

We did a lot of research before getting ours, we were told that Honda were the best but the price was ridiculous! We walked round the sites that we stayed at and found that Kipor were very popular. We bought a Kipor IG2000,it's a suitcase type, quite light, very good noise level and even I can start it! We paid about £350 on e bay ( new from a store) We would definitely reccomend it, runs the TV, my hairdryer, I think you can use dog dryers as I have seen people use them on site but as a precaution I would turn off other things that use power whilst you are operating it. I would just watch what power level you are buying as some generators struggle unless you have the right power output.

Generators aren't always allowed on camp sites lollypop, it may be worth checking the sites you wish to visit first!  :)

Some cheaper generators could damage your caravan electrics and anything you've got plugged in, especially TV as they don't supply a stable current.
