Hi,
have come back from the vets today with a positive scan for a litter expected early december...because christmas isn't busy enough!!!
Anyway was after some opinions on the best puppy food to feed mum and then the pups . She is a large breed that has successfully had a large litter before where I fed Royal Canin but found that new owners balked at the price when the pups were weaned on to it later on.
Any suggestions? Obviously I advise all new owners to feed the best that they can afford, and do the same myself but would be interesting to find out if there is any correlation between the feed and the health of mum nd litter later on or is it really just a question of volume of food?
Even though I use a different food for my dogs (dehydrated pellets), I always use RC birth program for the bitches and pups. They all like it, it's easy to soak, you don't have to supplement, and the bitches keep the weight even when they feeding a large litter.
I feed what works for me, I don't even consider what future owners think about it. And if they can't afford a food in that price range or at least of similar quality, they can't "afford" to get a puppy from me anyway.
