Don't put to much faith in diatomaceous earth keeping your dog free of worms, it was all the rage with poultry keepers a few years ago but the hens still got worms. It supposedly works by making the parasite dehydrate, but how is that supposed to happen in the moist environment of the gut ?.
you have a point there!I heard the way it deals with fleas is by its sharp edges cutting into the fleas hard shell and the dehydrating it,and that makes sense,i wonder if the sharp edges get the worms?
Hi
I have used it for my westie who was licking his feet really badly making them nearly ulcerated, had tried steroid spray on his feet and thornit powder but nothing worked somebody suggested this stuff and thought i would give it a go, put some into a freezer bag and dipped his feet into it rubbing right into the pads marvellous stuff within 10 days the licking of the feet was slowing down and now for 6months no further licking his feet have healed and touch wood not returned to doing it not sure what will happen if his feet get continually wet day after day but will have to wait and see, i haven't given him any orally so cannot comment on the worm side of things but for foot licking this stuff is brilliant cannot recommend it enough. The vets couldn't stop him licking them and were looking at biopsying his feet where they were so so sore even the vet has to agree this stuff is really good.
thankyou,i have just ordered some for me and the dogs!

So glad this has been discussed again, I was looking for Diatomaceous Earth and wasn't sure which to buy. The website posted looks good and if you're satisfied, then that's a good recommendation.

I get mine from www.wigglywigglers.co.uk
They have a free gift offer on at the moment...so if you spend over 40 pounds...they give you a free bird-feeder with energy balls.... :)

The Website posted (DiatomX) doesn't have a secure payment page despite SagePay being emblazoned everywhere :(
When I tried to connect via https it was refused by my browser as unsecure site.
Consequently I am NOT ordering from them - despite them sending me a confirmation of order email - I didn't fill in any card details and will not unless a site is secure.
Going to look at wiggly wigglers now thanks FOS
Try ebay-there's loads of suppliers of DE there.

I have looked on ebay, but as with many things, it's difficult to tell whether what they are selling is the real thing or just some cheap whitish clay powder ;)
Since I'm going to be using it on my dog's feet, I want to be sure I get what I've paid for ;)
