Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Schedule query...

ANOTHER question (sorry!)

There's an Irish KC Championship show on here this weekend, not too far from where I live. I'm thinking of heading along just to watch the greyhound (seems v rare for there to be more than one entered in most Irish shows!) and watch how he/she's shown for a bit of experience, etc. Anyway, is there any way to tell from the schedule what time the breed will be judged? Judging starts for everyone at 9.30 am and the show ends at 6.... I'm at a loose end that morning so thinking of heading along but the last time I went to a similar show I arrived at 3 or 4 and didn't see a greyhound anywhere! :(

It would appear from the schedule that they are second in the ring after the Az so you need to be there from the start of judging which seems to be 8.00.

See proposed order of judging and look at all the breeds coming up before yours for the same judge:  Ring No. 16 - Mrs. J. Bollard

9.30am: Bracco Italiano, German Long Haired Pointer, German Short Haired Pointer, German Wire Haired Pointer, Hungarian Vizsla, Hungarian Wire Haired Vizsla, Italian Spinone, Setter Irish-

Then Mrs M. Rainey - Spaniel English Springer,  who is probably taking over this ring whilst your judge has lunch

Then back to your judge Ring No. 16; Azawakh, Greyhound, Italian Greyhound

You look to be the 2nd breed after lunch so I'd be prepared to get there for 12.30- 1pm?  It's always a bit of guesswork and often depends on entry numbers... :)

How did you work out it was after Lunch? I must have missed something. Is there anywhere that states the order that the groups are to be judges or is it the assumption that they are in numeric order. Never shown in Ireland so I am not sure about how things are arranged, with out having access to the number entered the time of the afternoon breeds must be somewhat hit and miss.

I'm assuming that the Proposed Order of Judging is exactly that - with the breeds listed first being judged first.  The judge change part way through the sequence, but in the same ring, would usually suggest a break for lunch.

To the OP, if the showground is close enough it could well be worth popping along early to see entry numbers and recalculate timings.  As a rough guide, allow 2 mins judging per dog.  It's more than that with challenges, breed changes etc but it's a useful calculation nonetheless and often quite accurate (and allows for absentees).

They usually post the entry numbers on here:

At first glance I thought 2nd in the ring, so just after 9:30 but dogsababe must have looked a little more closly then me so follow that I would say :)
