How much did you pay and what area? And were you happy with them?

I'm looking to get one of mine hipscored (midlands area but willing to travel) and would quite like the cheapest possible (obviously I want good plates too, hence me asking the question here).

Thanks

I paid £150 end of September, result was 2/6. (BMS is 9.) It was done under sedation, not GA -would have been more expensive if they had to resort to GA. North Lincs.

Most recent one we had done was £160 the breed average is 13, our score was 6/6 was 3 1/2 years old when done. Sussex

The charge for having the x-ray scored is the same wherever you have it done, it is the vet costs that differ that is the cost of the taking of the x-ray whether is is done under a sedative or GA.

It is a minefield out there trying to find a vet who is
a) competent
b) uses sedation instead of GA
c) realistic prices.

I started looking in my local area, Essex £400, £350, £232, all with GA, no sedation anywhere.
Looked a bit further afield, Surrey 2 hours travelling time, sedation, £150.
Even further afield, Hampshire 4 hours drive, sedation, £105.

I do wish there was a decent list somewhere for us all to look at.

It is only relatively recent that pictures taken under sedation have been acceptable although there were any number scored before it became acceptable. It is also only in the last few years that  sedation became reversible so I would think that is why the situation is still uncertain and there is no list available.

Our breed club keeps a list of vets doing hip scoring under sedation (Belgians are known to be sensitive to GA), maybe something to suggest to others.

BVA/KC/ISDS Canine Health Testing Dates. on facebook lists health seminars , eye testing , etc and vets that use sedation .

They've been using reversible sedation for BAER testing for about 20 years.

Sure you are right but vets seem reluctant to use it and there was a time when the plates were for scoring they should have been done under GA, I understand this has now been relaxed but vets are still reluctant to use a sedative and would rather use a GA in most circumstances.
