I was online this morning placing an order as usual for salmon when I saw the sardine, anyway along with my usual salmon order I bought a 4kg bag to try it.  Has anyone tried the Fish4dogs sardine?

Yes - mine like it just as much as the white fish version.  It used to be the cheapest one offered by fish4dogs but I think the white fish is a little cheaper at the moment.

Did you get your Salmon on special offer?  It's a pretty good deal, particularly when you get breeders discount on top :)

Yes, the salmon was a really good price (breeders club). The sardine and salmon (when not on special offer) seem to be the dearest with white fish cheapest.  Good that yours like it, will see what mine think of it, they love the salmon but our pied girl has to have the white fish as the salmon makes her go pink!!

As I had read that the Sardine needed to be introduced gradually, I tried it with my last but one order.  Ordered one each of salmon, white fish and sardine, and mixed them all together.  I had no problems, and that was fed to Collies, Chihuahuas, and Yorkies.

Yes I read that yesterday, will mix it gradually with the white fish for Rita the pied, just in case she goes pink again!! As sardines aren't pink like salmon she'll probably be ok, we'll see!

Do you know,I never gave it a thought that feeding salmon would cause the coat to go pink. But I feed my 2 pups Barf in the main, but out of conveniance they often get 1 meal a day of fish4dog sardine puppy.I and my OH have noticed that since we started weaning them a few weeks ago that the skin around their eyes and around their mouths are quite pink.I initially thought this was down to licking each othet but have never observed tham doing this.So is the Salmon doing this?

My pied girl went onto the Salmon along with all of the others, they all loved it but after a few weeks we noticed Rita had a pink tinge mainly on her legs and feet.  Changed just her from the salmon to white fish, when the new hair grew she was back to sparkling white again. She does not lick or chew her feet/legs. Saw a TV programme years ago about the dye in the food that salmon are fed, (they showed a colour chart), they said that nobody would buy salmon if it was it's natural colour. Was hoping that the sardine would be better for her as sardines aren't bright pink! If not she'll be back to the white fish again, just bit of a pain feeding two different foods.  Just seems to be a bit strange that she's sparkling white until she eats the salmon food and gets a pink tinge, if it's not salmon then I'm stumped!

Forgot to say, I mentioned it to someone in another breed (mainly white), when this first started, she said that she'd heard of dogs in her breed with a pink tinge after eating food containing salmon.

eating shrimps makes flamingos pink and canaries can also be fed a food to make them turn red so I think it is quite possible that there is something in the food turning your white dog pink

Carrots also make pale golden retrievers a darker shade of gold.

Marigold petals are fed to chickens to make the eggyolk a darker orange.
