Two sundays ago my 6yr old dobe Blu colapased on a walk, we managed to get him to an emergency vet, after a tests and xrays, it was confirmed he had pneomina, and issues with his heart, and his lungs for were full of fluid, god nows how but he made it through the night, the next morning he was transfered to a specialist cardiologist vet, heart scans more tests later Blu was also diagnosed with DCM and a heart murmer i have to be truthful, i never expected him to survive, but he is a fighter and the vet was superb, 3 days later, i took my boy home loads of meds to take, but he was showing promising signs. I have nursed him through night and day ever since, we have been hand feeding everyday, and last friday he went out for a 5 min walk how amazing is that, i was beside myself with joy, i was realist I knew i might not have him for very much longer maybe a couple of months, but i was grateful. But two days ago he stopped eating at all, has a really sad look in his eyes and its breaking my heart, we are at the vets at 6 this eve, and i really don,t know what to do, i am distraught to get this far and he seems to making decsions for himself, he seems to have lost the fighting sprit that he had.

How sad, hopefully the vet can give you something to help, maybe the meds are making him nauseous and affecting his appetite.
Get some tasty titbits to tempt him, strong cheddar cheese works here either in scrambled eggs or on it's own, a member mentioned sardines in tomato sauce, not tried that myself but will if needs be in the future.
Keep us posted
I took him to the vets last night and they adjusted his meds, but he still has not eaten a thing, and i mean not a thing! i tried to syringe feed him and just kept gagging, he has lost 2.3 kilos in 4 days, how long did it take before yours picked up?

He is a big Flattie hovering around the 40kg mark but when he went downhill he went as low as 34kg in no time at all. He wouldn't eat dog food but we did manage to get him to eat scrambled eggs and he would drink milk. He then would eat but only 'human' food but we gave him whatever he wanted such as buttered pasta and toast just to get him eating.
Gradually we introduced his normal kibble to this and he began eating again getting back up to 39 kg in a week!
It took a good few days to get him to eat normally and to be honest he can pick at his food still but he knows we are wrapped around his paw and we panic and give him other food into his to encourage him to eat.
Have you tried pate? This was one thing he loved and I discovered that some of the foil cartons for small dogs are very much like pate and he ate them.
It is very worrying but careful tweaking of his meds should improve his appetite although some of the side effects of some tablets is to decrease appetite so can be a vicious circle. Just think what you would like to eat if you were ill.
Hope he starts eating soon.
Blu has taken a turn for the worse this morning, and is at the vets on a drip. his kidneys are not working as they should be. Vet said that this really is Blu's last chance of survival, he is going to ring me by 5 to let me know, how he is doing, i feel absolutly lost, i do not know what to do with myself, cannot concentrate on anything and can;t stop crying, this is so heartbreaking.
