- By ginastarr [ie] Date 29.09.11 08:16 UTC
Hi all
my litter is 8 weeks old just wondering how much I should be feeding now and if I need to cut down , they are currently on 4-5 meals a day , porridge for breakfast , natures menu for lunch  sometimes boiled eggs then natures menu again and ambrosia rice for bed-time , its been 7 years since I had a puppy this young and first time with litter , so any tips appreciated , also new owners are asking advice on how many feeds a day ,

many thanks

by 8 weeks my pups are on as much food a day )maybe a bit more) than the adults spread over 4 meals.

They should stay on 4 meals until about 12 weeks, and will be eating increasing amounts.

With mine by about 4 months they are eating half as much again as the adults, which I gradually start reducing from 9 months so that by a year they are on just a bit more than the adults, and then adjust accordingly, some continue on slightly more, some come into line with the other adults sooner.

They stay on 3 meals until around 6 months then on two to 12 months.  My adults are on one meal a day, though many owners prefer a small breakfast and then a bigger evening meal...
