I have just returend form the vet with a coughing puppy:( the vet has diagnosed, in the absence of any other symptoms, kennel cough but has also told me to use advocate for lungworm just in case its that. Armed with advocate, anti b's and repeat consultation I am  now concerned about the other two dogs
I know kennel cough is rather hits and miss as to if they will develope it ( no the arnt vaccinated against) but is lungworm contagious from dog to dog ?

I've always been told that it is not contagious from dog to dog, infected snails or slugs have to be eaten. Good luck.

Thank you , have now done everything I have been told and she is quite happy not ill at all. Fingers crossed it will just be a simple case of kc and she will get over it quickly

They don't have to eat slugs they can pick it up from slug trails on grass or toys left outside apparently. Puppies are moe likely to pick it up as they are more likely to be eating and chewing things outside.

Chris isn't it about the right time period after Brookes first show? I would be treating her with Manuka honey and baby Benylin.
Hope she's better soon is she still as fragrant as she was on Sunday :(

Well I thought that but vet said it only takes 2 day sto incubate slightly puzzled because the show would make sense. Yep thats just what we are having by we I mean me too I love benylin and manuka honey (just joking !) Fortunately she seems very well and not coughing much at all so perhaps I jumped in quick enough or its something else !

Not a good idea to use around dogs, can cause quite severe reactions as can shake n Vac (if it still exists).

Hmm

A quick search of the internet suggests between 3-14 days incubation with one vet site not giving a specific period but stating that as there are a number of different causes and more than one could be involved, incubation can vary.  kennel cough incubation time

When one of mine got it,  it was exactly a week after she'd been to a show where I'd heard a dog coughing.  7 days later the other two started coughing as well.

I used Baby Benylin and as they were snuffly, put a drop of olbas oil on their soft collars.

Hope your baby is better soon
