I have a sable & white xxxxxxxx who is just coming up to 4yrs old. She has a totally different pedigree to your dog but she is not KC registered. I lost my 15 yr old tricolour xxxxxxxx in May whom we miss dearly and as xxxxx has such a wonderful temperament i was hoping to mate her with a tricolour xxxxxxxxx and with a bit of luck she may produce a tricolour little boy!Could you email me details of stud fee's and boarding facilities please
Hope they're not too disappointed with my refusal and suggestion that they buy a pup - would need more than luck unless her bitch carries the tricolour gene!

Oh dear! Perhaps if you make it clear that it's pretty unlikely that mating would produce a tri she will see sense!

Well I must have upset plenty of people over the years who want to mate one of my boys with a0 ahuskamute so they will get a full Malamute puppy,and Akita,a few doubious sibes.I have refused about 3 or 4 people who want to but a husky puppy.Well if they can't even get the breed right what hope do we have?

Lol... indeed.. I suppose they must 'try it on' I guess there aren't many of this breed advertised (not that my dog is advertised as such) on Champdogs.

I have a large breed an I had a phonecall last year asking to use my boy for their Staffie bitch. They said they wanted to produce bigger, stronger and heavier pups! My boy is 27" at the shoulder and 70kg!!!  Poor girl! It gave me shivers to think about it.

I get a few enquiries a year from people who let it be known, that the thing they like about my dog is....he is local.
No interest in anything about him, health results, pedigree or temperament..all irrelevant because they wont have to travel.

Im not very nice to those people :-(

They get what my husband calls "the catagory A lecture". :-)

When I get a stud enquiry I just inform them that he is available to approved bitches and ask for their health test results. I don't usually hear any more from people.

I have to confess I sometimes contact people advertising my breed at stud and ask them all sorts of questions about their dogs health status and whether they have had the required tests done. Just occasionally I get someone interested in learning more about health testing.
Rather frighteningly I contacted someone recently about their dog. they sent me a pedigree and I could see that the dog was from lines that produced carriers for a disease we have a dna test for. This peson had not had the dog tested and had used him on 2 of her bitches. Presumably without testing them either. I did let her know the possibility her dog could be carrying this problem and said I hoped she knew her bitches weren't carriers but strangely enough she didn't reply. But I have noticed she is not advertising her stud at the moment.

Mind I was looking for a different breed stud dog and made the mistake of saying that as my bitch as a bit small (for me) I was looking for a dog who didn't have the same issue - that is I was looking for something not too small.  Oops - I got a lecture on using big dogs on small bitches but their view of 'small' wasn't the same as mine, they were talking 14-15" and my bitch is 19" and for the show ring spot on, just that I like them a bit taller :-( So had to clarify... I was looking for a dog no less than about 21".  Still - I didn't actually like their dog and have found a perfect one. 

As for distances a friend is just back from a trip with her bitch - far from local they've driven 5k miles to the top of Finland and back!  I think that's a bit excessive, but it's the dog they felt was the best so willing to travel - never again though they say! or at least never driving through Poland as they had to drive behind lorries as they were bigger and would take an impact better... and it did actually happen, the lorry in front of them had a car hit it!  I would travel to europe, have imported from USA and with the dog above is 250 miles away, but not sure I'd drive 5 thousand miles ;-) but hopefully with my breeds I don't need to

Don't think I'd want to drive to Finland, have flown to Finland (TWO STAGES) to the Swedish border, and have flown to East Coast of USA.

Wow - I thought our recent driving trip to Sweden to breed was a bit mad!  Much as I would consider doing it again that far, I don't think you'd get me going any further...  YIKES!  I really hope your friends' girl has taken.
