Just opened Nando's last packet (New box is being picked up tomorrow) of NatureDiet only to find that the meat inside was rancid!! It absolutely stunk and the smell is still not out of the kitchen a good few hours later!

It wasn't visibly damaged so I took a few pictures and have sent it to the manufacturers along with batch number. After doing a search on the forum it seems this happens a lot!

Did anyone ever get down to what the problem is? If this happens really frequently I'm afraid I may have to change his food as it really is a nuisance. Nando isn't bothered as instead of his NatureDiet he got some tuna with a big dollop of cottage cheese.

Another question I have is, when should I start changing him to the 'adult' or 'junior' versions of NatureDiet/Beta pup? He currently has 3 meals of Beta large breed Puppy dried food, mixed with nature diet puppy. He is just over 3 months and is a GSD.

I believe it was down to a problem in the manufacturing process but I had heard that it had been sorted.  I used to use naturediet as a back up for raw but now use wainwrights as it is more reliable.

can't help about swopping your dog over to junior or adult foods yet as I have BCs but 3 months does sounds a little too young to be thinking of that quite yet.

that is why I changed to Natures Harvest many years ago as my emergency back up food. I think it is a much better quality product than either ND or Wainwrights, but of course it does cost a bit more.
