I have got a 7 month old Border Collie that we had since he was 11 weeks old. Two weeks ago I bought a 7 week old kitten. We left the dog and cat apart for a day and then brought them together. The kitten hissed and spat at the dog and now the dog is scared of the kitten. Does anybody know how I can get them to be friends? I have two other cats and the dog gets on fine with them.

Just give them time :-) You can not force them to become friends. It is good that the dog has a healthy respect for the Cat ! Just keep a close eye on them both and make sure that neither one harass's the other. Time will tell if they will get on but I wouldn't worry to much.

It's amazing how well cats and dogs get on together, once they realise they are part of the same pack.
