Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Champ show - entering more than 1 class
- By Saffronsmith [gb] Date 07.08.11 18:29 UTC
Hi All,  I'm poised to enter my dog in a Champ Show.  I'll enter him in MPD within his breed but wonder also about an AV stakes or AV MPD.  If he was to win his puppy breed class, (thinking big here!!!) but not the other would he be eligible for the final puppy line up in his breed or would he count as a beaten dog?

TIA :)

If he is beaten in any class but the breeder class, brood bitch or stud dog then he is beaten and can't challenge for BP.

As you are new to this lark I would not worry too much about winning just enjoy and get experience, if you are entering 2 classes then do MP and Puppy in the breed - if you have a lively boy and want to enter another then try the AV MPD so your boy gets used to being in the ring with other breeds.

If he was beaten in an AV class, he can still challenge the other puppy in your breed for Best puppy dog & should he win that, go against the best puppy bitch & if he were lucky to win that he would be Best puppy in breed but could not go any futher as he was beaten in the AV class.
It is good to think ahead of these things as you never know what you may win & be certain how you may feel in cases like that.
Only yesterday the lady who has the brother to my minor pup(6 months yesterday) was in a similar situation she won mp dog & had him in pup too and was kicking herself a bit but it was agreed that if he was good enough he would win that class too. He was 2nd & it meant she didnt have to stay to the very end of the judging to challenge.

Providing he is not beaten by another of his breed in an A V class.

At Championship shows it can often happen that you do the breed class and then the AV before the breed challenge is reached.

But if he beat them in his breed, which if he won in his breed, he would have done..he would still be best puppy dog of his breed but like I say could not challenging any further than his breed, if he was beaten in an AV class.

Em, not sure, if you win puppy in breed and then go into A V puppy and are beaten there by the dog who was second in the breed puppy class then to my mind they are both beaten puppies in that breed and should not challenge.

No, & I am referring to a champ show here, you can still challenge for best puppydog/bitch or of your breed but go no further.

In theory may be you could but I would not dream of going into a challenge when I had been beaten by a dog I had met in the breed classes somehow seem against the whole spirit of the thing. You may get a rosette that said Best Puppy but you would know that you were not considered so by a judge you went under that day. Could I suppose tell yourself the A V judge did not know what they were doing. :-)

It is not theory or against the rules..you have not been beaten by it in the breed class.

Did not say it was I just said IMO it is against the spirit of showing to enter the challenge knowing you have been beaten by another in the breed.
