Yes, any dog can go in Novelty classes but dogs have to be pedigree but not necessarily registered, for the Pedigree classes & this does not mean that Labadoodles can enter the pedigree classes!!

If your new cross breed is only arriving on Sunday - and presumably has a sea crossing to contend with? - I'd wait a good few weeks before attempting too much.  Let her settle with you first

At the very least you'd need to know that, should she slip her lead, you have a reliable recall :)

thanks everyone ,will give milly few days to settle in then will take her out in lunge rein for walk with hector and see how we get on she does recall etc but will have to get her use to me

If you want to aim at something bigger once she's settled in, register her with the KC on the Companion Dogs Club and look to Discover dogs!

Are you confusing this with Scruffts?
The Companion Dog Club doesn't appear to have any special awards to win, except at individual companion dog shows which have classes for CDC members only. (There has been a recent discussion about this on the KC CDC Facebook group).

Scruffts however, is open to Crossbreeds ONLY and there are qualifying classes at various Fun dog shows around the country, with a final held at Discover Dogs in November.

One of mine is CDC registered and he gets an invite to enter classes at Discover Dogs each year.  Maybe they aren't doing it again.  He is registered as pedigree too.

Discover Dogs is the 'meet the breeds' event held twice a year, in March within Crufts, and a stand-alone event in London in November. There aren't classes or any sort of competition.

I've just checked with on a friends posts on another forum, she definately took part in November last year, there were also agility classes. Earls Court, London

Ah, my mistake, there's the Companion Dog Club competition and Scruffts at the Earls Court event; I've only been to the one at the NEC where it's only Meet and Greet.

Yes the November DD has competitions, we've been twice, got to the final five in Waggiest Tail one year, and WON AV Non Sporting the next - I was so proud of my girl, there were 'real' show dogs in show trim there and everything, it wasn't 'just' a best pet type thing. I keep mine in show coat, but for a Cavalier, that can look unimpressive next to a Yorkie and a Poodle! And Frank Kane was judging, I was so nervous! :-)
